DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION
DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION STRUCTURE:
District Collector:
• District Collector looks after or controlled by the administration of each district, who is appointed from the Indian Administrative Services (IAS).
• District Collector is responsible for the Administration of the whole district.
• His important functions:
1. Maintain law and order in the district
2. Collection of land revenue and the general development of the district
• He is assisted by District Revenue Officer, Revenue Official and Block Development Officers and other official in other departments.
NOTE:
• States are Divided into District
• Each district is divided into Taluks
• Each taluks is again divided into small units called Firka and there are several Village in each 'Firka'.
Revenue Department:
• In addition to the collection of land revenue, this department looks after the general administration of the district.
• Next to District Collector, the District Revenue Officer (DRO) looks after the functions of the Revenue Department in the District level.
• In each Taluk, the Tashildhar remains the head of the revenue department. He is assisted by Deputy Tashildhar.
• Revenue inspector is appointed in each Firka.
• Village administrative Officer (VAO) looks after the revenue department of the village level.
• In addition to the collection of land revenue. he looks after the law and order problems in the village under his control.
District Police Administration:
• District Superintendent of Police remains the head of the district Police Administration. Next to him there are Deputy Superintendent of Police.
• Police station have been setup in important town and other places of the districts.
• Police Officer in the cadre of Inspector, Sub Inspector, Head Constable and Constables have been appointed in this Police Station.
DISTRICT JUDICIARY
District Sessions Court:
• Each District is provided with District Sessions Court the District Judge presides over it.
Functions:
• The important function of this court is to enquire into the crimes committed within the district and to punish the culprit.
Additional Sessions Court:
• In the other parts of the district to enquire petty crimes.
District Civil Court
• The civil cases within the district are brought before District Civil Courts, which is presided over by District Munsif.
Functions:
• It hears the civil disputes pertaining to land and Properties and pass judgment over them.
