If Women Rule the World - 10 Mints Seminar Notes

 

Introduction

Ancient Women

•    Women during the Vedic period enjoyed equal status with men in all aspects of life. Works by ancient Indian grammarians such as Patanjali and Katyayana suggest that women were educated in the early Vedic period.

•    Rig Vedic verses suggest that women married at a mature age and were probably free to select their own husbands in a practice called swayamvar or live-in relationship called Gandharva marriage.

Late Medieval

•    Rudrama Devi was a monarch of the Kakatiya dynasty in the Deccan Plateau with capital at Warangal of present-day Telangana from 1263 until her death. Akka Mahadevi was a prominent figure of the Veerashaiva Bhakti movement of the 12th century Karnataka.

Freedom Fighters

•    Women freedom fighters like Sarojini Naidu ,Uda Devi , Rani Lakshmi Bai, Umabai Kundapur fought for freedom with men .

Rani Lakshmi Bai

•    Her confrontation with the British, she was a sign of courage, patriotism, self-respect, perseverance and generosity.The Rani of Jhansi was a pivotal figure in the Indian Revolt of 1857.

Sarojini Naidu

•    Also known as the ‘Nightingale of India’. She was a distinguished poet, renowned freedom fighter, and a great orator.

•    She was elected as the President of the Indian National Congress in 1925.

•    She campaigned for the Khilafat (Indian Disobedience) Movement and also the Quit India Movement.

Women In All Field

•    Priyanka Chopra Jonas is currently counted among the most successful and influential celebrities in the world.

•    Bala Devi became the first Indian women football player to bag a contract with a foreign club.

•    Lt.General Madhuri Kanitkar third female lieutenant General in Indian history and also first women pediatrician to achieve the second-highest post in the Indian Army.

•    Seema Kushwaha was Nirbhaya’s lawyer, who fought a long and hard battle for seven years and stood by Nirbhaya’s parents.

•    Ritu Karidhal featured in the Forbes Indian Self Made Women 2020 list. Ritu is also known as ‘Rocket Women of India’ as she was the Deputy Operation Director of the Mars Orbiter Mission.

•    Roshini Nadar Malhotra is an Indian business women , the chairperson of HCL Technologies, and the first women to lead a listed IT company in India.

Sonia Gandhi:

•    She needs no introduction. The all-in-all of All India Congress, Sonia Gandhi's tenure as the Congress president has been the longest in its century-old history.

•     She is also the chairperson of the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA).

Sushma Swaraj:

•    Seven times Member of Parliament and three times Member of the Legislative Assemby, Sushma Swaraj, the BJP leader, is now the Union Minister Of External Affairs of India.  

•    She is the second woman to hold this position after Indira Gandhi.

Sheila Dikshit:

•    Sheila Dikshit was the Chief Minister of Delhi from 1998 to 2013. She is a senior member of the Congress party. Dikshit has led the national party to three consecutive electoral triumphs in the capital. 

•    She became the governor of Kerala on 11 March 2014, however, she resigned from the post on 25 August 2014.

Mamata Banerjee:

•    The first woman Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, popularly known as Mamata didi, dethroned the 34-year-old left front government in the state. She was also the first woman railway minister of the country. 

•    In 1997, she launched Trinamool Congress, an anti-leftist party, to consolidate her position in West Bengal.

•    Form this what ever the field it is women shine in it. And when it come to ruling the world , only 24 percent of the women in total  national parliament and only 6.3 percent of total women international leaders.

Still men rule the world , it matters that women are fully represented in the leadership of the world.

1.    Change the stereotype.
2.    Force it at first.
3.    Break patriarchal institution.
4.    Don’t just focus on the top.

Conclusion

•    I would like to conclude  that all they need is equal  opportunity as men. 

•    when it comes to ruling the world I would say world would safe place to live on, peaceful place and place of equality. The world would be a better world.
