Narendar Modi Stadium

The Narendar Modi Stadium is commonly known as the Motera Stadium (as that is where it is located), and formerly the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium, and originally named Gujarat Stadium. After a reconstruction in 2020, it is not only the largest stadium in India, it is the largest stadium in the world. The current seating current capacity is 132,000 people.


Significant Events

•    1983 - stadium was constructed

•    1987 hosted a match at the Cricket World Cup

•    1995 - Kapil Dev took his 432nd wicket in Test cricket to pass Sir Richard Hadlee's record.

•    1996 hosted a match at the Cricket World Cup

•    2011 hosted 3 matches at the Cricket World Cup

•    2015 - stadium was closed and demolished

•    2020 - rebuild completed

•    2020 - hosted a visit by US President Donald Trump

•    2021 - the stadium was renamed as Narendra Modi Stadium


Rungrado 1st of May Stadium

•    Rungrado 1st of May Stadium, located in Pyongyang, North Korea, is a behemoth that will dazzle even the most travelled sports fans. Spread across 51 acres and with a seating capacity of 114,000, it is the second largest non-racing stadium in the world. The main pitch which measures 22,500 sq meter can easily fit in three full-size football fields.

•    The name of the stadium was based on two aspects, its location, set on Rungrado Islet in the Taedong River, and the international labor day May 1st, the day the stadium was inaugurated.

•    The largest attended event took place at the stadium on April 28th and 29th, 1995. The pay-per-view event promoted as "Collision in Korea" was the largest event ever in the history of professional wrestling. The two days recorded an attendance of 150,000 and 190,000.

•    M. A. Chidambaram Stadium is a cricket stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and India. Established in 1916, it is the second oldest cricket stadium in the country after Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

•    Formerly known as Madras Cricket Club Ground, the stadium is named after M. A. Chidambaram Chettiar, former President of BCCI & Head of TNCA. It is also nicknamed as Chepauk Stadium.

•    It is the home ground of the Tamil Nadu cricket team and the Indian Premier League team Chennai Super Kings. Chepauk hosted its first Test match on 10 February 1934, the first Ranji Trophy match in 1936 and the Indian cricket team's first test victory in 1952 against England.

•    The 1986 India-Australia match held at Chepauk was only the second ever Tied Test in the history of the game.
